Woolly adventures!

To coincide with wool week I have been playing with my fleeces that I bought earlier in the year. I found the picture at a boot sale it was an educational school poster, I have a bit of a thing for old school posters. I don't know what it is the colours, the themes or nostalgia? We have lots in our house and I keep adding to our collection, I'll show you some more one day. Also just mentioning that Annie at knitsofacto has a fantastic giveaway to enter so head over to have a read about Wensleydale sheep.
Anyway on with the wool....

washing, drying in the lovely sunny days we have had over the last few weeks and storing in old pillowcases.

dyeing
and spinning...

From Pinkipunki on Etsy- teeswater locks for extreme tail spinning, yet to be extremely spun.

I love wool.................... soon I will show you my lovely new knitting book from Tiny Owl Knits. It's ammmaaazzzziiinnnggg. Ohh and my first fleece to finished item project if I hurry and finish it,
Have a great week,
Sarah

Wow! I have just been given a raw fleece. I have never had one before and am looking forward to working out what to do. What do you use to wash your fleece and do you wash bits at a time or all of it together? Have you got any tips on stopping it felting?

Thanks!

I love seeing the organic process behind the production of yarn. That's quite a dazzling array of colours you've got there. x

Oh my, so clever... love the colours! I've treated myself to a relaxing day (or two) of knitting this week - all in aid of wool week, obviously!

I'm impressed that's a lot of work. The colours you've achieved are beautiful. Well done! you have more patience than me, I've sent our Shetland sheep fleeces off in the post for someone else to deal with...

This is the second of your posts in a row I could have sworn I'd commented on but there's nothing here ... I think your blog is eating my words!

I shall try again ... thanks so much for the mention and wow, love the yarn. I am in awe of all who sin their own :)
